Story Behind the Edit

Lauren + Wade

When we met with Lauren and Wade, one thing was clear, spoken audio wasn’t going to be a big part of their wedding video. During our pre-wedding video chat they told us there would be no speeches at the rehearsal dinner, no letters to each other and no personal vows. This made us a little nervous because spoken audio is always such a big part of our films. It became our mission to find a way to capture more audio to work into their wedding film.

When we left for the rehearsal dinner, Adam wasn’t going to bring any audio recording equipment because they weren’t planning on giving any speeches (FYI you can’t use audio from your camera recording or it will sound terrible. You need special audio recorders that plug into the microphone system to record good audio for a wedding). Luckily, I advised him to bring it just in case someone gave an impromptu speech. As luck would have it, the father of the groom picked up the microphone and had a cute story about Lauren and Wade that ended up being a key piece in their final highlight film.

At the rehearsal we saw everyone carrying these pamphlets that told a beautiful story of how generations of family members had met and fell in love on the lake.  It was so well written and told the story of how Lauren and Wade met, fell in love and were getting married on the lake. We just needed to capture someone reading it out loud. It was at the rehearsal dinner when we started building relationships with some of Lauren and Wade’s closest friends and family members. There was one family member that stood out. Lauren’s Grandpa was clearly a big part of her life and they had a unique relationship.  We thought he would be the perfect person to read the pamphlet.

The day of the wedding comes and as soon as we had some down time I asked Grandpa if he would be willing to read the pamphlet for us.  Grandpa agreed and we found a nice quite place along the lake to record him reading it. It ended up being the intro to their wedding film and told their story perfectly.

This is what we mean when we say we fight for your story.
